Rather than coordinating multiple external contractors, the client relied on our comprehensive marine engineering capabilities to fix and prevent major engine faults, structural damage, and failing ancillary systems, getting the vessel safely back to sea.
Main Engine Overhaul & Pipework
The core of this refit focused on the vessel’s propulsion and fuel systems. Our specialist marine engineers executed extensive repairs to the main engine fuel oil pipework to prevent leaks and ensure optimal flow. We completely removed a defective aftercooler and installed a brand-new unit, alongside performing cylinder head and piston works to restore the main engine’s reliability and power output.
Coded Hull Repairs & Bespoke Fabrication
Operating in harsh maritime environments inevitably leads to structural wear. Following severe impact damage, our coded welding division performed critical steel repairs to the vessel’s hull, ensuring total structural integrity and compliance with strict maritime safety standards. Additionally, our in-house fabrication team designed, manufactured, and installed bespoke radar scanner mounting brackets, perfectly tailored to the MV Norrland.
Ancillary Marine Systems
Beyond the hull and main engine, a commercial vessel relies on dozens of critical ancillary systems to operate efficiently. Our engineers successfully refurbished the centrifugal seawater circulating pumps to prevent dangerous overheating issues. We also conducted essential maintenance on the ship’s cargo vertical lift, ensuring that once the MV Norrland returned to active service, its cargo handling operations would perform flawlessly and safely.
