Beating the Weekend Clock
When a major cargo handling crane breaks down operations at the port come to a complete standstill. We received an urgent call at five in the evening on a Friday regarding a critical failure on a Gottwald crane. The pressure was intense with three commercial ships sitting at the dock actively waiting to be discharged. While other engineering providers might hesitate at a Friday evening emergency our team deployed instantly. Rapid Dismantling and Assessment
The breakdown centered around a heavily damaged wire bogey assembly. To get the crane operational again we had to arrange multiple repair phases incredibly swiftly. Our mobile engineers conducted a careful dismantling of the heavy machinery right on the quayside. We then rushed the defective components back to our fully equipped Immingham workshop where our traditional machining division was already standing by to begin the complex reverse engineering process.
Precision Manufacturing in Record Time
Our expert machinists worked through the night to fully refurbish and manufacture the necessary replacement parts from scratch. Within just twelve hours of the initial call we precision turned a brand new EN24 steel pin featuring a 140 millimetre head and a 120 millimetre bearing size. We drilled and tapped both ends milled the keep plate slot and drilled the grease way to absolute perfection. Alongside this we manufactured two heavy duty bearing shields from thick EN8 steel expertly turning the outer diameter and drilling the required pitch circle holes to accept the new screws. By treating reactive tasks like this as our bread and butter we got the crane safely back into action and the ships discharged without unacceptable delays.
