Expanding Our Engineering Services
For two decades, our team operated proudly under the name Port Equipment Engineering, establishing a reputation for resolving complex mechanical issues across Immingham and Grimsby docks. Working in the marine and ports sector, we learned our trade in one of the most unforgiving environments on earth. Saltwater, relentless vibration, and extreme structural pressures mean there is no room for half-measures.
To bring this high-level technical expertise to a wider range of markets, we launched Hickman Engineering. We have transitioned from a port-side specialist into a complete engineering solutions provider, serving heavy industries across the United Kingdom.
The Marine Standard Applied Globally
The rigorous standards we developed on the docks now drive our work across every new sector we support. If a weld can survive the structural demands of a North Sea cargo vessel, it can handle any manufacturing plant, construction site, or farming estate.
Our expansion has allowed us to deploy our specialised divisions into several key areas:
FMCG and Manufacturing
High-speed production lines cannot afford halted operations. We provide rapid repairs for conveyor systems, industrial gearboxes, and hydraulic presses. Led by specialist pipe welders like Ryan Sykes Reeves, we design and install food-grade stainless steel process pipework that meets strict hygiene regulations, eliminating bacterial traps.
Construction and Agriculture
Heavy plant machinery undergoes immense daily wear. Our mobile teams deploy directly to quarry sites and farms to perform in-situ line boring, rebuilding worn pivot points and excavator brackets back to original manufacturer dimensions. We also execute high-strength structural welding to repair cracked crane booms, load attachments, and farm infrastructure.
Transport and Logistics
As the official UK and Ireland agents for NT Liftec, we manage heavy-duty translifter and cassette systems. We also provide complex electrical and hydraulic diagnostics for commercial road fleets, including Multilift hook loaders.
Bypassing the Supply Chain
A major challenge facing UK industry is the speed of parts supply. When a critical machine breaks down, original equipment manufacturers often quote multi-week lead times or state that the required component is obsolete.
We solve this problem by keeping the entire design, machining, and fabrication process under one roof at our Grimsby workshop. Our in-house CAD specialists can reverse-engineer any broken part from physical samples, rough sketches, or measurements.
Our traditional machining division then uses precision lathes and milling machines to manufacture an exact-tolerance replacement from high-grade materials, such as EN24T steel or phosphor bronze. We turn months of waiting into a matter of hours, keeping your operations moving.
Our Core Promises Do Not Change
While we have expanded the industries we serve, our commitment to transparent, reliable service remains exactly the same.
We continue to back our services with our strict 24/7 Flat Rate Promise. We charge the exact same standard rate regardless of the hour, day, or weekend. You will never face inflated out-of-hours penalty fees or hidden call-out charges. Furthermore, if your facility is located within 20 miles of our base, we guarantee our mobile engineering units will be on your site within 90 minutes.
We never shy away from a job, no matter the magnitude. If you are struggling with a complex mechanical failure or chronic machinery downtime, challenge our team to engineer the solution.
