Proactive Preventative Maintenance at Grimsby Fish Docks
Critical dockside machinery requires regular maintenance to stay operational when you need it most. As part of our yearly preventative maintenance presentations for Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises, our marine engineering team identified a significant vulnerability beneath the newly constructed marine station. A series of aging, perished rubber hydraulic hoses posed a severe risk of rupture, which would have inevitably led to system failure, environmental hazards, and costly downtime. We proactively engineered and implemented a replacement strategy to secure the facility long term.
Bespoke Hydraulic Upgrades & System Longevity
To eliminate the inherent weaknesses of standard rubber hosing in harsh marine environments, Hickman Engineering executed a complete system overhaul. We systematically removed the deteriorating lines and replaced them with heavy-duty, anodised solid steel tubing. To guarantee maximum longevity and unparalleled resistance to saltwater corrosion, the entire new steel network was meticulously wrapped in protective Denso tape. Our specialist pipework engineers also designed and manufactured all the necessary hydraulic fitting modifications and conversions, ensuring flawless integration with the existing dockside machinery.
Adaptable Engineering & Civil Groundworks

When it became apparent that the new, rigid steel pipework required a modified subterranean route beneath the marine station, our team seamlessly adapted to the challenge. We independently managed and executed the necessary civil groundworks to safely and securely house the newly upgraded hydraulic infrastructure.
